Privacy

Ladle collects nothing about you.

No account, no analytics, no tracking, in the app or on this website. Here’s exactly what goes where, in plain words.

Updated October 2026

  • No account, analytics or telemetry
  • Your downloads and history stay on your Mac
  • No cookies or analytics on this website

The app

  • Ladle sends nothing about you anywhere. There’s no account, no analytics and no telemetry. Ladle doesn’t know who you are and doesn’t report how you use it.
  • Its only network traffic is the downloads you start and one update check a day. Ladle connects to the sites you download from, and nowhere else, apart from that check.
  • The update check sends only Ladle’s version and your macOS version. It reads the update feed from this website. New versions of Ladle download from GitHub Releases. You can turn the check off in Ladle › Settings › Updates.
  • Your download history stays on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Ladle. Remove a download from the list, or delete that folder, and it’s gone.
  • Your clipboard is read on your Mac and never sent. Ladle looks at it only to spot a link to a file you might want to download. Turn this off with Watch the clipboard for links in Ladle › Settings › General.
  • Cookies and referrers stay with their site. When a download comes from your browser, Ladle sends the cookies and page address that came with it only to the site the file comes from.

The browser extension

Ladle’s extension looks at the downloads you click and the videos on the page you’re viewing, so it can hand downloads to Ladle and show the Download video button. When it hands over a download, it passes the file’s link, the page it came from, its name and the cookies that site needs, directly to Ladle on your Mac. It doesn’t keep or send a record of your browsing.

This website

  • No cookies, no analytics, no tracking scripts and no ads.
  • Fonts come from this site, not from a font service, so loading a page doesn’t tell anyone else you visited.
  • Two preferences stay in your browser: your light or dark theme, and which browser you picked in the docs. They’re kept in your browser’s local storage, on your device, and never sent anywhere.
  • The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and Ladle’s downloads come from GitHub Releases. Like any web host, GitHub receives the usual request details, such as your IP address, when you load a page or download a file. We don’t get visitor logs or statistics from it. GitHub’s privacy statement covers what it does with that information.

Support

Support happens on GitHub Issues, which are public. Anything you post there, including links and logs, can be read by anyone, so leave out private download links and personal details.

If anything changes

If Ladle or this website ever handles your information differently, this page will be updated first and the change will be called out in the changelog.
